writing prompt
A big issue with school and their technology now a day is
they have to decide whether or not to take away many things on the internet by
blocking them so that kids may not access them during school. There are three problems
with that theory. One, kids need to use those other sites that are blocked because
some of those sites that they can’t access have many different varieties of helpful
information. Two, it can help give teachers an opportunity to give more
examples and help them teach. And lastly, it can help teachers with knowing what
to do and how to do things by using tutorials. Now that we have three examples.
Let me explain them.
First, kids need to use those sites that are blocked because
some of those sites have very useful information. They limit us to some
websites that don’t even have much information so it leads us to guessing, thus
not giving us a chance to try our best and learn the material better and
faster. Blocking those websites can prevent lower dropping of grades as well
because there is so much information and examples that learning and knowing the
material would be easier and faster. For example, knowing things faster would
be very helpful to us, the teachers, and the school district so that we can fit
all of the rest of our material, and then some, into a 12 week span.
Secondly, unblocking a lot of the sites would help a ton for
the teachers. It would help because they now have more opportunity’s to give
more examples and tutorials to the kids. For example, if a my teacher Mr. Smith
was able to access a website that he know would be helpful to everyone in the
whole class, than we would know what we are dealing with as we come into the
class every day for our assignments, help us comprehend what we are working on
day by day, and it would especially help the sophomores, the ones that are new
to this class.
And lastly, unblocking many of the sites that are blocked
would help teachers become better at what they are teaching, for example they
would be able to find tutorials and be able to learn about how to teach a
certain subject or find out newer ways to make the class more enjoyable and much
more helpful to their everyday life. Unblocking sites isn’t just for the
students, teachers everyday struggle to find newer ways to make their class fun
and useful for kids to take, and by using some of the sites that they block
here, makes their job much harder and sometimes delays our work time.
Some people might say that schools need to block sites so
that kids will not get into bad and inappropriate sites, but no students try and
get on bad sites will using our computers. And if they do we easily can look up
what students have passed searched and find out who did what. Also teachers can
walk around and keep an eye on students. There are two easy ways to catch
people, it’s just the matter of wanting to stop being lazy Americans and watch
what people do.
In conclusion, I think that schools should unblock many of
the sites that they do so that students use sites that have many chance to get
better and more information, it can help teachers teach and speed up the curriculum,
and help teachers help students be more successful. This is a subject that
really need to be stressed on and be changed immediately.
